Free Atlanta Hawks Tickets (Jan. 15)

I bet you won't get crunk...at the Hawks game on Saturday! But for real you can actually get a free ticket to this weeks Atlanta Hawks game if you show them your crunk side and try out for the Kia Sixth Man section. Tryouts will take place at 3 p.m. on January 15 just a few hours before the game against the Houston Rockets. Click here to RSVP to the Kia Sixth Man tryouts. And be sure to bring LOTS of energy!

Homeboy Sandman's Coming To Town

If you have yet to see rapper Homeboy Sandman perform live you're really missing out. But lucky for you the New York City rapper will be gracing the stage at Atlanta's Apache Cafe on Saturday, January 15. I'm not really one for New Year's resolutions, but one thing I want to do more of this year is to check out more Hip Hop shows. I know that seems a little odd, but I really do miss going to shows :-( Sooo if I miss out on this Homeboy Sandman show then ya'll know I'm really slacking lol.

Snowmageddon 2011 (Video)

For the past few days the city of Atlanta has come to a standstill due to a winter storm that dropped between four to eight inches of snow in Georgia and covered the city with tons of ice. But honestly though I've had fun enjoying the weather. I've been sledding (with my boogie board), snowball fighting, and more. Just yesterday I videotaped my lil bro and his friend trying to get their snowboard on.

Half-Off Tickets To Cirque du Soleil's Ovo (Atlanta)

I know it sounds super cliche, but I checked out Cirque du Soleil's Ovo at Atlantic Station a few days ago and it really is a must see. A lot of people pass on seeing a Cirque du Soleil show because of the prices. Their prices usually start at $55 and go up to almost $400 so they aren't cheap. I was recently on the Ovo ticket site and they're actually offering tickets for half off at select shows. I think it's only for the upper level, but it's still a great deal. You can get a ticket for as low as $25. To purchase tickets click here and make sure you click on "Offers."

My First Fried Oreo

I got to experience a little taste of heaven this week when I tried my first ever fried Oreo. What's a fried Oreo you ask? It's basically what the name implies, it's an Oreo fried in batter and easily 1,000 calories. Okay, maybe not 1,000 but I'm sure it's probably pretty darn close.

My first fried Oreo experience was courtesy of Munchies ATL located in Riverdale, Georgia (about 30 or so minutes from Atlanta). They were nice enough to let myself and a few other people sample them. They add their own little twist to the fried Oreo, offering both the classic Oreo and a strawberry Oreo as well. And all of their fried Oreo's are drizzled in chocolate. Sounds delish, right? If Oreos aren't your thing then they've still got you covered. On top of their signature fried Oreos Munchies also sells fried brownies, fried cheesecake, and funnel cake sticks.

Aside from Munchies' variety of sweet treats they also sell burgers (which they say rivals that of Five Guys), wings, seafood, and ummm...salads. Be sure to check out Munchies on both Facebook and Twitter.

P.S. The picture above is a pic I took from the Kidz N The Hall performance at A3C last year.

Free Tickets To Heineken Inspire Featuring Big Boi (ATL)

If you missed out on the amazing Microsoft Kin/Big Boi show that was held here in Atlanta a few months ago it's now time to redeem yourself. On Saturday, September 4 Heineken Inspire will be holding a free show featuring Big Boi, Jermaine Dupri, and more at Opera in Atlanta. I'm sure this show is going to be just as crazy as the Kin show so if you're in Atlanta it's definitely wise to be there.

On top of the concert there will also be food, drinks, games, and other entertainment.

To RSVP to the show sign up for a pair of tickets on ShowClix.com. Use the code INSPIREATL. Be sure to print out your ticket and bring it with you the day of the event. Oh, and you have to be 21 and up. Sorry kiddies.

Shout out to @Likeshawndavid for the heads up on this one!

Fashion's Night Out Atlanta

I was browsing through my inbox the other day and I saw an e-mail about an event that would be taking place in NYC during Fashion's Night Out. After reading the e-mail I thought to myself, "It sure would be nice if they brought Fashion's Night Out to Atlanta." Low and behold, shortly after reading that e-mail I saw a message on Twitter about Mayor Kasim Reed bringing the event to Atlanta! Details are still sketchy and I'm sure it won't be nearly as grand as New York's Fashion's Night Out, but I'm sure it'll be a fun night nonetheless.

Fashion's Night Out will take place in participating cities on September 10. So far in Atlanta about 75 stores have signed on to take part in the event. For more information on Fashion's Night Out in Atlanta and to find out about events that will be taking that night visit the Fashion's Night Out Atlanta Facebook page. Also, check out footage from the press conference that was held announcing Fashion's Night Out Atlanta.

Cuervo Games ATL!

I was super psyched when my pal Iz'e hit me up a few days ago about the Cuervo Games taking place in Atlanta this weekend. The games have been on tour for the past few weeks hitting up cities like Boston, Chicago, and San Diego. It's all going down at Atlanta's Centennial Park from 1 p.m. to about 10 p.m. on Saturday, August 14.

As part of the Cuervo Games teams will compete in various obstacles in an attempt to win it all and head to Vegas for the finals. Walk on teams are welcomed, but be sure to get there early for the qualifier round which begins early in the afternoon.

ASocialMess.com says there's going to be "margaritas galore," but don't hold your breath on that one. I'm sure the last thing the City of Atlanta wants is a bunch of drunk people running a muck in Centennial Park.

Oh, and I almost forgot the best part...the Cuervo Games ATL stop will conclude with a performance from N.E.R.D.

Atlanta's Salon Soy To Celebrate Their Second Anniversary

Atlanta based hair salon Salon Soy will be celebrating their two-year anniversary later this month and are inviting customers, both new and old, to the celebration. Salon Soy specializes in the up keep of healthy hair, something more and more salons are striving for these days.

"We really work hard to educate our clients about their hair. Most of them don't know what the real texture of their hair looks or feels like and that after years of relaxers, the integrity of the hair is broken due to the original molecules being stripped,” said owner Soyini Thwaites in a statement. “Then we have to rebuild by trying to add proteins afterwards, when in fact, we can start off with strong healthy hair because that’s the way it grows out of the scalp in the first place.”

The two-year anniversary celebration will take place on Saturday, August 21 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Salon Soy. The festivities will include lots of hair talk (of course), cocktails, food, and more. Salon Soy is located at 1519 Pryor Road SW in Atlanta.

$50 Tattoo's At Atlanta's City Of Ink

Renowned Atlanta tattoo shop City Of Ink will once again be offering $50 tattoo's on a walk-in basis. I don't have any tattoo's, but if I were to ever get one I'm pretty sure I'd hit up City Of Ink. I have yet to hear anything bad about them. Even if you are a little skeptical about getting a tattoo, like myself, City Of Ink also doubles as a miniature art gallery. So I'm sure they're down for letting you take a peak at the art they currently have on display. Also, be sure to check out the City Of Ink Website and Twitter page to find out about various events they'll be holding in the near future.

B.o.B MySpace Music/HP Concert Recap

Over the weekend MySpace Music and HP held a free concert in Atlanta featuring local artist turned global star B.o.B. The concert took place at Centerstage and was open to all ages.

Upon arriving at the show I checked out the press lounge which featured various products from HP and Beats By Dre including the HP Envy 14 with Beats Audio. A rep even schooled me on the audio technology featured on the line of HP computers with Beats Audio. What Beats Audio does is it makes the music on your computer much more clear and crisp, the way artists intended it to be. I was able to compare music played both with and without Beats Audio and there's definitely a huge difference in sound quality. Now on to the show...

I missed the majority of the opening acts, but I did get there in time to see Playboy Tre perform a few songs. And no offense to B.o.B but Playboy Tre, Sean Falyon, and Scar performing "Wonderful Life" was easily my favorite part of the evening. It's without a doubt one of the best songs of last year in my opinion. Definitely check that out if you haven't.

Since the show was to be streamed live on MySpace they started precisely at 9 p.m. Hooray! We all know that timeliness isn't big at Hip Hop shows. First off, these kids go crazy for B.o.B. They pretty much jumped around, waved their hands in the air, sang along, etc. the entire show.

As expected B.o.B performed all of his hit songs including "Nothin' On You," "Airplanes," "Past My Shades," and more. The ladies (and even a few gentleman) really got their swoon on when he performed "Nothin' On You," singing along to every word of the chorus. I would have to say that the highlight of B.o.B's performance was him performing "I'll Be In The Sky." It's a favorite of mine and it's clearly one of the songs that helped launch his career.

During the show B.o.B went from one extreme to the other, stage diving into the more than eager crowd and later breaking out his guitar for a few lovey dovey slow songs. The show actually ended quite abruptly with B.o.B ending his final song with "Thanks. I'm B.o.B! Bye!" I personally think it was a planned attempt at an encore. The audience, which I think was somewhat thrown aback by B.o.B's quick exit, began to chant B-O-B and low and behold B.o.B came out and performed another handful of songs. Among those songs was "Airplanes" and lucky for ya'll I actually have FlipCam footage of B.o.B performing the song below. Check it out.

Picture Diaries: Vagabond Arts Fashion Show

Last night at HALO's Fashion Bliss, Meghan McKendree of Vagabond Arts celebrated the debut of her line of jewelry with an exceptional fashion show. Ladies and even a few gentleman strutted down the walkways of HALO clad in body paint and tribal art, rocking various pieces of jewelry from Vagabond Arts. The soundtrack for the evening was provided by Atlanta's own DJ Kemit.

I've been lucky enough to check out a few fashions shows in both New York City and Atlanta and Meghan's definitely was one of the most enjoyable. I loved the creativity and the overall vibe in general was really positive. Check out a few flix I got while attending the fashion show.
