"Death Of ?"

With the recent release of Jay-Z’s “Death Of Autotune” I felt kind of inspired to kill a few things off myself. Death of swag anyone? So I’ve created a list of "Death Of’s" we’re in need of and the artist I found suitable to perform each song. Enjoy!

“Death Of Skinny Jeans” - Kid Cudi
I guess his knots fit...

“Death Of Constant, Unnecessary Name Changes” - Diddy
Puff, Puffy, Puff Daddy, P Diddy...the madness has to end somewhere because I refuse to call this dude "Did".

“Death Of MySpace” - Tom
RIP MySpace.

“Death Of The Gimmick Song” - Hurricane Chris featuring Halle Berry
The last thing Hip Hop needs right now is an ode to Halle Berry.

MJ's Legacy

After the recent passing of legendary artist Michael Jackson I’ve found that people seem a little too eager to fill Michael’s shoes. The man hasn’t even been gone for a week and I’m already hearing talk of Beyonce being the likely candidate to replace him. And in response to that:

1. Is it actually necessary to find a replacement for Michael? Because from the looks of it it seems like people are really pushing for this as if it’s something that needs to be done. Slow your roll people. This man was a legend. A legend. I don’t think people understand what exactly a “legend” is these days because we’re so used to mediocrity. Michael is someone who if I ever have kids they will know who Michael Jackson is. They will know his music.

2. And if somehow we deem it necessary to find Michael’s “legacy” replacement (which still sounds absolutely crazy to me) then we need to have some kind of group vote ‘cause I am not rolling with Beyonce on this one. Yes, she is a great artist, a great performer, etc. but she is nowhere near legend status in my opinion.

We’re always trying to find a replacement for something these days. Is it our lack of patience? Unwillingness to just let things be? What is it?

For me, there will never be a replacement for Michael Jackson and we might as well just leave it at that.

I Have To Take It There..

For real though, where is it?

And on a side note: Perez, if you ever need to contact the police again "calling" them on Twitter isn't gonna cut it.

Pink Carpet Mixtape (Free Download)

Now I'm not really one for posting free mixtapes on my blog because I know there's thousands of mixtapes being circulated online daily and I'm sure half of them are ass. And although the The Pink Carpet (bad name, I know) mixtape is hosted by DJ Vlad (blah) it does consist of a number of note worthy femcee's including MC Lyte and well...MC Lyte. Anywho, show some appreciation for the female emcee and download the mixtape.

If you're a true fan of Hip Hop chances are you're definitely familiar with Cincinnati/Brooklyn based group Tanya Morgan. Their latest album Brooklynati has received rave reviews from the likes of XXL Magazine, Time Out NY, and more. Check out the groups latest video for their song "So Damn Down".

Jadin Shropshire - "Never Be"

So one of my Tweeps (shout out to Twitter) sent me some music of his today and it's actually pretty good. You'll be amazed at all the talent that's out there if you're actually willing to listen. In fact, I'm thinking about making a weekly "Twitter Spotlight" on here for musicians and other artists. Let me know what ya'll think about that and if you have any candidates.

Be sure to take a listen and check out JS on Twitter.

Jadin Shropshire - "Never Be"

Whatcha think about...

The ass in the face action Eminem voluntarily or involuntarily (still debatable) took part in last night at the MTV Movie Awards? I like Eminem, but when I watched a video of what took place last night this morning I was laughing my ass off. Yes, it was funny in my opinion. With all the shit Eminem talks about other celebs this HAS to be karma

But if I was Eminem and I had no idea what was about to happen I'd be pissed the hell off if that man's bare ass was in my face. Yuck.

And like someone on Twitter said last night, MTV would not even fathom thinking about doing something like that to a TI or Lil Wayne. That'd be grounds for all out war. What do you guy think about what happened? Staged? Not Staged? Funny? Disrespectful? Let me know what you think.

Fresh Daily's Tomorrow Is Today

Looks like I'm on a roll with posting dope artists today. Up next we've got the Tomorrow Is Today mixtape from Brooklyn rapper Fresh Daily, formerly Ill Tarzan (blame the name change on Disney).

I've had the opportunity to see Fresh Daily perform several times at EOW and he's killed it every time. His mixtape was released last week so excuse the lateness. Better late than never!

Click to Download Tomorrow Is Today.

Brittany Bosco - "Blues For Blue" + "Black And White"

If you aren't familiar with singer Brittany Bosco you LOST! I'm playing. But seriously do your self a favor and check her out. Give yourself a break from all the Beyonce's and Ashanti's out there and check out a real artist 'cause her voice is off the chain. Uber-dope (I just made that one up). She recently released a music video for her songs "Blues For Blue" and "Black And White" so be sure to check it out below.

Also be on the lookout for the re-release of her EP Spectrum, taking place on June 17. And if you're in the Atlanta area on June 24 there will be a Spectrum release party/show at The Earl so be sure to check out for that as well.
