Senor Kaos - "Automatic Classic"

This week Atlanta/New York City rapper Senor Kaos released his latest video "Automatic Classic" and trust me the song is definitely classic material. And thank God there's still a few rappers out there, like Senor Kaos, who are letting the world know about REAL Atlanta Hip Hop.

Make sure you check the video and also be sure to check out Senor Kaos performing at the Slaughterhouse show here in Atlanta on September 26.

ABDC Goes Bollywood!!

America's Best Dance Crew is hands down one of my favorite dance shows. You can clearly see the passion these crews have for dance. I love it!

This week (August 30) ABDC is going Bollywood and incorporating Indian dance into their routines. Here's a look at what song each crew will be dancing along to as well as their specific challenge for the week.

RHYTHM CITY "Jai Ho" A.R. Rahman & Pussycat Dolls
Challenge: BHARATA NATYUM - The movements are ample and precise, always symmetrical. The technical vocabulary comprises jumps, spins and balanced attitudes. This style has a lot of bending, squatting and large arm movements.

WE ARE HEROES "Arab Money" Busta Rhymes & Ron Brownz
Challenge: GIDDHA - Performed in a circle, Giddha consists of clapping and often becomes a friendly battle between two people trying to out do each other, with a story. This style is performed by women only and is considered the female version of Bhangra.

AFROBORIKE
"Dance Bailalo" Kat De Luna
Challenge: KATHAK - Kathak performers are noted for their fast turns and stomping footwork, whose rhythms, exaggerated by ankle bells, develop into complex metrical sequences. Kind of like tap dance, but without the shoes.

VOGUE EVOLUTION "Calabria 2008" Enur
Challenge: RAJASTHANI - Rajasthani Dance comes from the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is a folk style performed during Indian celebrations. The style is fluid with swaying movements, hand gestures and small hip movements. Women generally perform this in a circle wearing brightly colored veils and skirts flaring out as they twirl in circles.

MASSIVE MONKEES "Bang" Rye Rye Ft. M.I.A.
Challenge: BHANGRA - Bhangra is considered to be the most energetic dance style of India. The movement requires lot of athleticism. Bhangra is somewhat graceful, but the moves are large and powerful. It’s a very masculine form of dance.

BEAT YA FEET KINGS "So Fine" Sean Paul
Challenge: GARBA - People dance around the center, bending sideways at every step, their arms making sweeping gestures, each movement ending in a clap. Formation changes, switching partners and barrel turns make a diverse and difficult Garba.

I'm Having Fun With...

Pac Div's new online video game! LOL. It's actually kinda fun.

In conjunction with their new mixtape Church League Champions, Pac Div has created an online basketball game that allows gamers to participate in timed free throw and 3-pointer competitions as one of the members of Pac Div.

It's not an uber-exciting game or anything like that, but it's definitely a creative and fun way for Pac Div to promote their new mixtape. Enjoy!

Rock City ft. Verse Simmonds "Can I Get On"

Check out this latest music video from Atlanta-based rapping duo Rock City. I had the opportunity to meet Rock City at an event in ATL a few weeks ago and they're definitely real cool, talented dudes. Also, be sure to download Rock City's PTFAO (Put The Fucking Album Out) mixtape. Check for the link after the video.

New Rhymefest:: "Binary Code" & "Angry Black Man On A Elevator"

It's always exciting to me when two artists who you really never expected to work together actually collaborate. Sometimes the outcome's horrid sometimes it's hot. So when I read something about Rhymefest and Lil Jon working together I had to take a listen. Aside from the unexpected pairing the name of the song, which happens to be "Angry Black Man On A Elevator", drew me in from the get go. And the outcome is actually hotness. Kudos to Rhymefest and Lil Jon on that one.

New UNDRCRWN Tee's

I love UNDRCRWN, I really do. Not only do they have dope shirts, but there's an inspiration for each one of them. You gotta love when fashion and true creativity meet.

UNDRCRWN's latest tee's are kind of an ode to 90's streetball flicks and in particular the movie White Men Can't Jump. In the movie one of the characters explains that "...brothers (would) rather look good and lose than look bad and win." And there you have the inspiration for the tee's picture below.

Guilty Pleasure #413

Why I like these weird ass dudes I DO NOT know. Hell, maybe it's because of the fact that they're weird ass dudes. But I like LMFAO!! And for all you slow folks, I'm not talking about laughing via the internets I'm talking about the group LMFAO.

I'm sure we've all heard "I'm In Miami Bitch" or "La La La". But I can't get these damn songs outta my head. And I can't help but watch the videos because there's something intriguing (and laughable) about a man in tights with big, crazy ass hair. Peep the video on your way out...

Hell Naw! & Tweets-N-Beats

If you're in the Atlanta area and you're looking for some Hip Hip shows to check out this week or next then here ya go...

Spree Wilson's Evil Angel Mixtape

Okay I'm a little late posting this mixtape, I believe it was posted on the internets some time last week. This kid is crazy talented though and I'm sure BIG things are in his future. So do yourself a favor and get that mixtape and while it's downloading be sure to check out the video for Spree's single "Word!!!."

Spree Wilson "Word!!"

My Guilty Pleasure :-\

Quite often in Hip Hop we come across that song that we hate, but we also kinda love. I'm sure you know the feeling. I'm currently feeling this way about the song "My Partna Dem". For those of you who aren't in the Southeast you've probably never even heard of this song. It's by a group of about five kids. The song really has no content, but the beat's kinda hot lol. Makes you feel all bouncy and giddy lol. Okay now I'm tripping. Check out the song and let me know what ya'll think.

"Run This Town" Trailer

You guys are probably gonna laugh when you hear this, but truthfully I've only heard this song once lol. I know it's a hot song and all, but I try and shy away from the radio so I don't really hear too much of the more "mainstream" songs. Anyways, I got an e-mail with the link to the trailer for the "Run This Town" music video and I thought I'd share it with you good folks. Quality is kinda crappy although I'm not sure if this was done on purpose of if the video is just effed up. *shrugs*

Michael Vick Apologizes (Again) In Blog

The folks over at GlobalGrind.com are really doing big things. The site, which features a bunch of different celebrity blogs, recently got former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick to give them an exclusive blog. In his blog, Vick basically apologizes for what he did and promises to be a better man.

Personally, I feel that he's paid his dues and I think that he should be allowed to move on with his life. Of course, dog fighting is a horrible thing to do but basically he was crucified for his actions partly because he was a black man making millions. There's plenty of people who have done far worse and they weren't given this kind of treatment.

But, I swear if he releases one more apology he's gonna be overdoing it and I truly believe that people are really gonna start to question his sincerity. Let the past be the past and...GO EAGLES!!

Here's an excerpt from Vick's Global Grind blog:

"What I did was horrendous. Awful. Inhumane. And I've no excuses for my actions. It makes my heart hurt now to think about what I've done. And I'm gonna be real honest, it took a while for me to get to this place.

Sitting in a prison cell didn't make me feel remorse. It was meeting so many animal lovers, speaking with them and looking them in their eyes..."

"Where My Bloody Necklace"

Fueled by boredom earlier today, myself, my brother, and my cousin decided to have some fun with my FlipCam. And in a matter of hours we created, "Where My Bloody Necklace", an indy short film that is sure to make its way into the Sundance Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, and MORE. Enjoy!

T-Pain, Florida State University President?

I found this quite hilarious...A graduate student at Florida State University is campaigning to have rapper T-Pain as the new president of Florida State University. The current president at FSU will be retiring and I guess the students are really looking for a change. Now if you thought all this was funny, check out the platform a Facebook group has created for T-Pain:

Widespread collaboration among the faculty of different departments: Guest spots on each other's papers and projects.

Complimentary Dranks for everyone (students and faculty) representing FSU at all academic conferences.

Annual Ice Cream Social to take place On A Boat.

Replacing the water in all campus fountains and water fountains with Cham-Pain.

The formation of the FSU College of Hip Hop, with a new Rap Concert Hall to break ground in Spring 2010.

I actually went to Florida State for two years so trust me those kids down there have nothing better to do lol.

Amber-Mania!

I have to admit this chic is actually starting to grown on me. She's hella fashion forward (even though that's one tacky ass outfit pictured above) and she's half Cape-Verdean (as am I). Complex Magazine recently did a photo-shoot with Amber and I would have posted a pic or two on here, but Complex ain't havin' that. So to check out Amber Rose's photoshoot with Complex click here.

Celebrities Preview Madden 10 In Atlanta

In Atlanta last night celebrities, media, and more were given the opportunity to preview the new Madden 10 video game which will be released on August 14. Big Boi, Jermaine Dupri, Lil Scrappy, OJ Da Juiceman, and more were in attendance previewing the new game.

It was definitely a cool event. I met some cool people, got to try out the game, and even got a few quick interviews in with a couple of artists. Although everything was cool the host of the event was kind of a hater. He kept saying women can't play Madden. Puh-lease! It just so happens that I CAN'T play Madden, BUT there's also a lot of women who can play and a lot of men who can't play. So he was kind of annoying, but aside from that, good times lol.

I even got some FlipCam footage of Jermaine Dupri and some real excited dude testing out the new game.

Kid Cudi Complex Cover

Okay, no hate this time. I like the cover. It's different. Colorful...color's good (at times). Something about it wreaks of Halloween, but that's alright! Have a look for yourself...

Hennessy Artistry Series

I have to admit I was a little excited to read an e-mail this afternoon about the fourth annual Hennessy Artistry tour. Whenever there's great music and liquor involved it's bound to be a good time. And there will indeed be great music with The Roots and Common headlining the tour which will be making stops in Atlanta (yay!), Chicago, New York, and Houston in September/October.

Although I covered the red carpet for the finale of the event in New York City last year I wasn't actually able to check out the show. By the time I decided to head in for the performances (and free liquor) security was already claiming they were at capacity, you know, the whole fire hazard mumbo jumbo.

I can't front though, even though I wasn't allowed in I still had a decent time. Met some cool folks on the red carpet and got some decent quotes from artists attending the event.

I've been dying to see The Roots perform live so I will definitely be checking out this years show. For more information on Hennessy Artistry series click here.

Who Wants $80?

So here's the dealio...Common and Queen Latifah are filming a new movie about basketball titled Just Wright. And they need extras for a scene at the IZOD Center in Jersey.

They will be filming on Wednesday, August 12th, Thursday August, 13th, and Friday, August 14th and need all kinds of people. Only thing is you need to be willing to be there ALL day. You get paid $79.75 for 10 hours worth of work. It's not a whole lot, but most extras don't make anything. And I'm sure there will be free food and what not so if you're free that day and want to take part e-mail fans@njnets.com by Wednesday of this week.

Include the following in the e-mail:

- Name
- Age
- Phone number (home and cell)
- Email address
- Days available to shoot
- Can you receive text messages?
- Will you be able to travel to East Rutherford, NJ (must arrange your own transportation to shoot)
- Are you SAG (Screen Actor Guild)*?
- Are you a US Citizen or have a valid passport, Greencard, Work Visa? (Everyone must have a social security number)
- Please attach a recent candid picture of yourself (please make sure it is not too large)
