Twitter Take: Kanye West's "Monster"

Last night, as midnight grew closer a lot of us became a little skeptical of rapper Kanye West's promise to deliver a new track per week as part of "Good Fridays." But shortly before midnight Kanye finally delivered with the track "Monster". The song features Kanye, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, Jay-Z, and some dude named Bon Iver.

Following the release of "Monster" it seemed like everybody and their mama hit up Twitter to give praise to Nicki Minaj for her verse on the song with some people even labeling her the greatest female rapper out right now (umm that's BS). I've listened to the song twice and yea it's kinda hot, nothing mind blowing though. And I'm sorry folks but Nicki Minaj just doesn't do it for me. Just my personal preference, no hate. The random voices and accents...weird and unnecessary. I think if other lesser known female rappers got as much hype as Nicki Minaj does then we would really see how mediocre she is, but unfortunately real female rappers don't get any play these days. With that being said let's take it to the Tweets!!

Jay-Z & Oprah Together Again

Oprah's continuing her season premiere week/month/whatever with an episode today (September 24) that will feature her interview with rapper Jay-Z. I'm sure you all remember a few months back when Oprah and Jay-Z visited Marcy Projects. Well, I'm pretty sure that the episode today will feature some footage from their visit. Trust me, today's episode will be major, like Twitter Trending Topics major so be sure to check it out (if you can).

"Run This Town" Trailer

You guys are probably gonna laugh when you hear this, but truthfully I've only heard this song once lol. I know it's a hot song and all, but I try and shy away from the radio so I don't really hear too much of the more "mainstream" songs. Anyways, I got an e-mail with the link to the trailer for the "Run This Town" music video and I thought I'd share it with you good folks. Quality is kinda crappy although I'm not sure if this was done on purpose of if the video is just effed up. *shrugs*

"Death Of ?"

With the recent release of Jay-Z’s “Death Of Autotune” I felt kind of inspired to kill a few things off myself. Death of swag anyone? So I’ve created a list of "Death Of’s" we’re in need of and the artist I found suitable to perform each song. Enjoy!

“Death Of Skinny Jeans” - Kid Cudi
I guess his knots fit...

“Death Of Constant, Unnecessary Name Changes” - Diddy
Puff, Puffy, Puff Daddy, P Diddy...the madness has to end somewhere because I refuse to call this dude "Did".

“Death Of MySpace” - Tom
RIP MySpace.

“Death Of The Gimmick Song” - Hurricane Chris featuring Halle Berry
The last thing Hip Hop needs right now is an ode to Halle Berry.

Ban One, Praise One, Retire One

For those of you who don't know, one of my all time favorite movies is Step Brothers. I've seen it over ten times now and it's STILL hilarious.

If you've seen Step Brothers you probably remember the scene where Dale and Brennan are doing the group interview and Dale does the 'ol switcharoo on the interviewer. Dale asks the interviewer, "Martha Stewart, Oprah, your wife. You gotta fuck one, kill one, and marry one, who do you pick?"

Hilarious. So I've decided to try my hand at the Hip Hop version of this. Here goes:

Eminem, Andre 3000, Jay-Z. You gotta ban one, praise one, retire one, who do you pick?

My picks...

Ban = Eminem
Praise = Andre 3000
Retire = Jay-Z

Now it's your turn...Hit up the comments section :-)

"Swagger Like Us"

I just came across this song earlier today, and it's hot as hell. It includes verse's from some of the hottest rappers in the game including Jay-Z, T.I., Kanye West, and Lil' Wayne and it uses a sample from my girl MIA!

Oh, and I'm sure people are gonna be debating on who has the hottest verse on this so I'm gonna go ahead and put my vote in for T.I. You already know...
